3. Read the following passage and then choose the correct answers from
those given below:
Because people have got used to the fact that the prices of everything are steadily going up, they do not believe their ears when they hear of a cheap thing. This happened to Adel, a friend of mine whose struggle to better his life seemed never ending. Adel felt that he was in great need of a car, at least to avoid the long daily wait at a bus stop, and then the struggle to get on when the bus does come at last. To get off the bus, an equally hard struggle is necessary. Going to places by taxi does not solve problem, as drivers take passengers according to rules they themselves set.
But Adel knew that having a car was only a dream, as he could certainly not afford the price of even a ten year old secondhand car. However, one day Adel happened to meet Mr Kamel, an old friend of his father's, who told him that he was ready to sell him one of his care for only a pounds. Adel became suspicious and thought that the car must be either very old or in a bad condition. But when he saw the car, he found that it was only three years old or in a bad condition. But when he saw the car, he found that it was only three years old and in a perfect condition. When Adel insisted on an explanation, Mr Kamel told him that his father had once done him a great favour and refused to take a reward, and that in this way he was indirectly giving the reward to Adel.
